Why Choose a Gittings Security System?

Where do I start?

For a residential security system, you need two things: (1) Equipment that suits your needs, and (2) Monitoring Service to coordinate a response to an alarm. Let's keep it simple and discuss equipment first. Then we'll link you over to compare packages.

All of our packages come with a Base System that includes several pieces of hardware. Every home is different so you may need more or less equipment than the base system includes. You may also want to add fire protection, carbon monoxide detection, home automation or other options. But our base system is the foundation of just about any residential system, large or small.

When you schedule your free consultation, we can discuss your specific needs and put together a package that gives you exactly what you need and saves you the most money. In the meantime, let's take a look at what a basic wireless home security system looks like.

Parts of a Basic Wireless Home Security System:

  1. A Control Panel – This is the brain of the system. Currently, our primary control panel is the GE Simon XTi Wireless Control Panel/Keypad/Siren with patented “Crash & Smash Protection”. It’s beautiful, simple to use and provides a lot of expandability.
  2. A Means of Communication – Traditional security systems communicate by standard telephone lines. If you still have a landline, you could use that for your system to call the monitoring center in an alarm situation. However, a much more dependable option is a “Cellular Communicator”. A Cellular Communicator allows your system to call out using its own dedicated cellular line. There are no wires for intruders to cut and it gives your system powerful interactive features, like the ability to arm and disarm from a cellphone.
  3. Wireless Door Contacts – to tell your system if a door has been opened
  4. Motion Sensors or Image Motion Sensors – to alert your system if an intruder enters by window or some other means. An image sensor also takes pictures of the intruder and stores them off-site for evidence.
  5. Keychain Remote Control – for your convenience
  6. Backup Battery – Powers your system for up to 24 hours in the event of a power outage
  7. Window Decals and Yard Signs – A major deterrent to potential intruders
